Common Ground
A community directory concept for useful places and people nearby. We could start with a few friends and let the connections grow gently.
Concept project: Common Ground is an imagined community directory, included as an example of a project taking shape.
Good things are often close by
Someone knows a welcoming place to meet. Someone else has tools to share or a weekend idea that could use another pair of hands. We are exploring a place where these small connections would be easier to find.
The first version could be a few carefully written entries from people we know. Each would explain what is here, how to join in, and who to ask when something changes.
An invitation to take part
We would ask permission before including anyone and help people find words they are comfortable sharing. A rough description is enough to begin; we can tidy it up together.
Ghost could hold the entries and occasional updates. We would learn what makes the directory useful before deciding whether it needs maps, accounts, or anything more involved.
Still taking shape
There are open questions about keeping information fresh and sharing the work of looking after it. We can leave those questions visible. A project is welcome here while it is still figuring things out.
Questions, kind thoughts, and things we haven’t figured out yet. There’s room for all of them.
